As the November 5th general election approaches, one of the most explosive stories this week in Texas involves a new Texas Secretary of State advisory directing election workers to accept temporary or limited-term driver licenses as forms of voter ID, after advising that person of the requirements of citizenship to vote.

Nominally, this is due to the possibility that the individual has been naturalized since the issuance of the license, but this has elicited grave concerns of non-citizens voting, especially with concerns about the integrity of voter rolls nationwide.

In response to this controversy, Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson issued a letter to Attorney General Ken Paxton dated October 9th requesting an opinion on whether these IDs should be accepted at the polls and whether they should be an acceptable form of ID for mail-in ballots.

The answer to this question should be obvious, of course. Under the Texas Election Code, a Certificate of Naturalization is an acceptable form of voter ID. If a person who has become a naturalized citizen has not yet applied for an updated driver license, that person should be in possession of an acceptable form of ID that does not raise questions about their citizenship status.

With early voting starting on October 21st, it is critical that the Attorney General’s office issues a swift ruling forbidding election officials from accepting these non-citizen driver licenses and ensuring that ONLY citizens vote in the November election.

Yesterday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a statement about an ongoing case against DACA in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The case was brought on due to the Biden-Harris Administration’s decision to formalize DACA through the public notice and rulemaking process.

The State of Texas seeks a court ruling that would bring a permanent end to the program, which they argue violates current law and the separation of powers enshrined in the United States Constitution.

We applaud Attorney General Paxton for his office’s continued diligence in bringing legal challenges to nearly every flagrantly illegal executive action by the Open Borders Biden-Harris administration, and we hope that DACA can be ended once and for all.
