“One of the most consequential bills ever,” according to President Trump, is set to be signed into law tomorrow, July 4th, just as Trump promised. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act drew a marathon debate in the House, requiring much whipping and convincing from President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson. Holdouts have warned that the bill increases spending and grows government, while advocates say that the legislation is imperative for boosting the American economy, cutting taxes, and securing our future… and our border.
The bill does indeed vastly increase funding for border security projects, taking some of the financial strain off Texas. Border expenditures were among the least challenged aspects of the bill and will amount to approximately $170 billion. This includes funding for 10,000 new ICE officers, space for 100,000 illegal aliens in detention facilities, and $46 billion to complete the border wall.
Along with Trump, Border Czar Tom Homan has emphasized that passing this bill is crucial for the America First Agenda. On X, Homan posted: “This bill will add infrastructure and technology to make our gains on the borders permanent. It puts more boots on the ground to target cartel activity, alien smuggling, child trafficking and drug smuggling. It will provide the needed funds and manpower to increase the great work of ICE on our deportation operations nationwide.”
Strong Borders is optimistic that the passage of the bill will further our mission to secure the border and go a long way toward fulfilling Trump’s campaign promise of the “largest mass deportation operation in American history.”
