600,000 Deportations? A Good Start, But Not Enough

At a recent defense summit, President Trump’s border czar Tom Homan announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expects to deport more than 600,000 illegal aliens by the end of the year.

That number might sound impressive until you realize the scale of the crisis.

During the Biden administration, more than 10 million illegal aliens were encountered crossing our border. The true number of illegal aliens entering our country was much higher. Against that backdrop, 600,000 deportations barely put a dent in the problem. It’s a good start, but not quite at the scale that America needs.

This still leaves millions of people living and working here illegally, many employed by corporations that exploit cheap foreign labor while driving down wages for American workers.

DHS must take this threat seriously. That means:

  • Fully deploying and expanding the ICE 287(g) program to empower local and state law enforcement to identify and remove illegal aliens in their custody.
  • Prioritizing high-yield worksite enforcement operations to target the employers who knowingly hire illegal labor, creating the demand that fuels this crisis.

We applaud any step toward restoring the rule of law—but Texans for Strong Borders calls for local, state, and federal officials to do everything they can to bring deportation numbers up. America needs a government that enforces its immigration laws, protects its workers, and defends its sovereignty without apology or hesitation.

Texans for Strong Borders will continue pushing for maximum enforcement to secure our border and put Americans first.
