Op-Ed by Chris Russo
The results from Tuesday’s elections sent shockwaves across the country and a warning to every American who cares about our nation’s future.
In New York City, far-left candidate Zohran Mamdani, a Ugandan-born Muslim socialist, defeated both Independent and Republican challengers to become the city’s next mayor. His agenda reads like a wish list for global elites: weakening law enforcement, imposing rent controls, creating government-run grocery stores, and hiking taxes on high earners.
So how did we get here?
According to early analysis from Patriot Polling, foreign-born voters overwhelmingly backed Mamdani — 62% compared to just 31% of native New Yorkers. NBC’s exit polling data tells a similar story: among residents who have lived in New York less than ten years, a staggering 81% voted for him.
Immigration is reshaping the political landscape, not just at the border, but at the ballot box. For decades, our federal government has permitted mass immigration—legal and illegal—without requiring or even encouraging assimilation. New arrivals increasingly identify with the interests and culture of the regions they have left behind, not that of their new home. When these millions of new arrivals come from nations with significant religious, cultural, and political differences from the historical population of the United States, it should not surprise anyone that they vote to reject the values of our Founding Fathers and our Constitution.
How can the United States remain a free and sovereign nation in the face of this? This is what makes immigration an existential issue for the future of our republic.
America was built on self-reliance, liberty, and the rule of law. But our broken immigration system is importing voters who increasingly reject those values.
This isn’t “xenophobia.” This is the truth. Every nation has the right to preserve its identity, its culture, and its social cohesion. America is no different.
As the leader of Texans for Strong Borders, I am not afraid to confront the uncomfortable truths we are seeing in today’s broken immigration system. Importing limitless amounts of foreign nationals will not produce outcomes that make America stronger. We are not merely an economic zone; we are a nation with a shared heritage, culture, and history. We owe it to our posterity to leave them an inheritance of a functional society, where they can live, raise families, and achieve the prosperity our forefathers fought so hard to guarantee.
While New York is certainly not a top concern for Texans, the results from the November 4th elections should raise alarms for everyone. We must continue to speak out and stand up to open-border globalists who view those who wish to preserve our way of life as nothing more than an obstacle in their pursuit of profit margins and political transformation.
America must remain America, and we are here to fight this battle, right alongside you. So please, consider making a generous contribution today and stand with us in the fight for American—and Texan—sovereignty.
Every dollar you give goes directly to our efforts to reach tens of thousands of citizens, keep them informed on current issues with immigration, and arm them with the tools they need to hold their elected officials accountable.
We’re not waiting for Washington to save us. We’re leading the fight ourselves.
If you share our conviction, join us. Your support helps us reach voters with the truth, hold politicians accountable, and defend the values that built this nation.
