A large migrant caravan is headed for the Southern Border. A mob of hundreds of migrants, mostly from Haiti, has left the Mexican city of Tapachula, heading for the US southern border. According to AP news, the caravan is not optimistic about entering the US due to President Trump’s border security efforts, and may remain in Mexico if they cannot cross our border.
Simultaneously, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers have intercepted significant drug smuggling attempts at the southern border. In one recent operation at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas, agents seized approximately 83 pounds of cocaine valued at over $1.1 million, hidden within a commercial tractor-trailer.
These incidents show both good news and bad news. On the positive side, American patriots voting for strong immigration policy and border security have largely achieved results. With the border closed, migrant caravans no longer are emboldened and incentivized to invade the United States and are instead staying in Mexico, led by open borders globalist Claudia Sheinbaum.
On the negative side, we see the immigration threat isn’t going away. Had America elected an open borders president, this caravan would have a green light to invade the country and the left would give them free healthcare, welfare, and other benefits as a reward for coming to take American jobs and terrorize our communities.
Even with our strengthened border security, the cartels are still trying to poison our country with their drugs. There is a market for them here in America, and they will try to exploit that market as much as they can. The drug smugglers are getting caught, and hopefully will continue to be in the future.
However, we will only be protected from the drugs and cartels if we keep our guard up. This means not taking in caravans that overwhelm the Border Patrol and allow drug smugglers to slip through in the chaos. It means electing representatives who believe in border security, and rejecting the globalist ideology of open borders and sanctuary cities wherever the ideology appears.
Texans for Strong Borders has consistently warned that partial measures are insufficient. True security requires overhauling Texas’ border mission with a dedicated state Border Protection Unit immune to federal interference and a Special Missions Unit to disrupt cartel networks. We must protect American workers by implementing Universal E-Verify to block illegal employment, reforming legal immigration to prioritize assimilation and American interests, and ending taxpayer-funded subsidies—including education and healthcare—that incentivize illegal migration.
