A shocking discovery in New Jersey has dealt another major blow to the Left’s long-standing claim that illegal aliens do not vote in American elections. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat, announced that state officials found approximately 6,600 illegal aliens on the state’s voter rolls and that at least 400 of them cast ballots in the 2024 election.

For years, the Left insisted illegal aliens posed no threat to election integrity. Americans were told there was no need for legislation like the SAVE Act because existing safeguards were supposedly enough to prevent non-citizens from registering or voting. Yet somehow, thousands of illegal aliens ended up on New Jersey’s voter rolls, and hundreds reportedly voted.

The same open-borders advocates who claimed illegal aliens never voted also argued there was no need for mass deportations because illegal immigration had no meaningful impact on our elections. That narrative has become much harder to defend.

Perhaps most concerning is that this occurred in just one state. If thousands of illegal aliens were found on the voter rolls in New Jersey, Americans have every reason to question whether similar problems exist elsewhere. States with larger populations and governments less committed to election integrity could face an even greater risk.

Predictably, many on the Left are already moving the goalposts. Instead of denying that illegal aliens voted, they are now arguing that the number of illegal votes wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the election.

That misses the point entirely.

Every illegal vote cancels out the vote of an American citizen and undermines confidence in our elections. Election integrity is not measured by whether fraud changes the winner of a particular race. It is measured by whether our elections are reserved exclusively for American citizens.

The long-term consequences of ignoring this problem are serious. If illegal immigration continues unchecked and millions of illegal aliens remain in the country, the pressure on our election system will only increase. Calls for mass amnesty, expanded voting access, and the erosion of citizenship requirements will become even louder, fundamentally changing the relationship between American citizens and their government.

Texans for Strong Borders believes this is exactly where the open-borders movement is headed.

Leftist policies reward illegal immigration, weaken national sovereignty, and steadily blur the distinction between citizens and non-citizens. Left unchecked, those policies risk transforming the United States into the very kind of third-world country that millions of people have sought to escape—one plagued by corruption, weak institutions, and a government that no longer puts its own citizens first.

Texas must reject that future.

Texans for Strong Borders will continue fighting for the policies needed to secure our nation: passing the SAVE Act, carrying out mass deportations, ending taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens, eliminating exploited visa programs, and putting American citizens first. Those priorities are essential to restoring election integrity, defending our sovereignty, and preserving the nation for future generations.
