House Democrats introduced an aggressive new bill this Tuesday to entirely abolish the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Rep. Delia C. Ramirez (D-IL) pushed the Reimagining Safety Act after left-wing activists raged against ICE enforcement in New York.
This outrageous piece of legislation would abolish the entire Department of Homeland Security, aside from a few select agencies. It would specifically abolish ICE and the Border Patrol, while keeping FEMA, TSA, and CISA. Funds previously sent to abolished agencies would be rerouted to welfare programs.
The bill also aims to create a new immigration enforcement body to replace DHS. This new enforcement structure would “reimagine public safety” by turning immigration enforcement into a purely civil matter, in effect decriminalizing illegal immigration.
Without the use of force, deportations and border security would be permanently ended. The Southern border would be wide open for the entire world to exploit. Anyone and everyone would have the chance to come into America, claim our welfare for themselves, and commit crimes with absolute impunity.
The only recourse left for American citizens would be a “community-centered federal department that promotes collective safety.” That’s an equivocation designed to obscure the real meaning: liberal bureaucrats who put illegal aliens first will now be in charge of immigration enforcement.
The Reimagining Safety Act amounts to a coup d’etat against America’s national sovereignty. It represents another form of “abolish the police,” only this time applied at the national level. Such legislation will obviously never pass as long as President Trump and congressional Republicans can stop it. The Left knows this, and they have a plan.
Anti-ICE propaganda has been set up to draw support for ending immigration enforcement entirely. The Open Border lobby used instances like the shootings of Renee Good and Wilber Rafael Garces Perez to falsely paint ICE agents defending themselves as villains. Many low-information voters are swayed by these lies, creating support for radical action.
The next time Democrats have an opportunity, they will attempt to pass this bill, and likely other extreme pieces of legislation. This could be through gaining a veto-proof majority in Congress or through a simple majority in Congress and control of the White House.
The only defense America has against the radical Left’s war on American sovereignty is the American people. Patriots in Texas and throughout the rest of the country have to make it clear to our leaders that they will not tolerate an Open Border like the one we saw under the Biden administration.
