The Trump administration is bringing much-needed changes to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). All immigration applications will now be subjected to mandatory enhanced security checks. The move affects asylum applicants, green cards, and US citizenship applications.

USCIS stated that the agency “implemented new security checks to strengthen the vetting and screening of applicants through expanded access to federal criminal databases”. They also found that the previous screening and vetting measures were “wholly inadequate”.

It is now more dangerous than ever to allow our immigration system to move forward as a rubber stamp. Immigration policy should put protecting American citizens first, not pleasing foreign nationals. Open borders ideologues let the worst of the worst illegals come in during the Biden border crisis, but they also have been flexing their might to bring in more legal immigrants as well.

Now, with these enhanced security measures, Trump is undoing the left-wing policies that sabotaged American national security and left our country open for the entire world. Immigration policy should have always had these priorities: limiting the amount of people who can come in and ensuring to our best ability that those we do allow in are honest and well-meaning people.

Securing the border means stopping all threats from reaching America, whether they be from caravans trying to cross the Rio Grande or foreigners lying on their immigration applications. Texans for Strong Border will continue to advocate that the US government put our safety and well-being first and protect our country.
