This week, the court system delivered a monumental display of justice. A North Texas antifa cell previously convicted for their bloody terrorist attack on an ICE facility was sentenced to prison. The courts handed the group’s leader, Benjamin Song, a whopping 100-year sentence.

The eight terrorists’ sentences add up to 450 years in prison total, with most of them getting 50 years. One other convicted antifa terrorist was granted a continuance and will be sentenced at a later date, as will seven other individuals who did not participate in the attack but supported it materially.

The members of the group were convicted earlier on many different charges, including attempted murder of a police officer, providing material support to terrorists, using weapons and explosives, rioting, and obstruction.

Back in July of 2025, Song and the rest of the antifa cell launched a guerilla warfare styled attack on the Prairieland Detention Center. Militants shot at police officers, with Song hitting one in the neck, and launched fireworks at the facility while destroying vehicles.

This is the first sentencing of antifa defendants since President Trump’s executive order designating the group as a domestic terrorist organization. Clearly, this attack proved the President correct in designating antifa as a terrorist organization. There is no other way to describe people who attempt to achieve their policy goals through routine violence and murder rather than lawful means.

Fortunately, antifa’s attack failed on the battlefield and has now failed in the court of public opinion as well. Every one of the militants sentenced received decades worth of prison time, and for many of them, the length is so great it might as well be a life sentence.

The best part, however, isn’t the prison time the criminals will serve: it is the deterrence. These convictions and sentences sent a message to the entire nation: we will not tolerate domestic terrorism with political aims.

The Left has put enormous effort into creating a two-tier system of justice that shields its militants from prosecution. George Soros and other wealthy leftist donors have bought out district attorneys across the country for this campaign. Blue state legal officials then let leftists get off easy when charged, or simply don’t enforce the law at all.

The Prairieland attack showed the Left that they won’t always get away with intimidation and violence. Crossing the line now comes with consequences. We won’t stand by and watch them murder their way into power. Antifa will be held accountable to such a degree that no rational person would want to sacrifice for their cause. Texans for Strong Borders celebrates this much-needed justice and will continue to advocate that left-wing terrorists receive zero tolerance for their vicious crimes.
