Over the weekend of May 16-17, Austin, Texas, was rocked by a shocking wave of violent shootings targeting fire departments, homes, apartments, and innocent pedestrians. The primary suspect charged with the shooting has been identified as an illegal alien.
Christian Fajardo Mondragon, 17, was arrested for the crimes along with two other unnamed teenagers. The spree of shootings involved 12 total incidents over about 28 hours and resulted in four people being injured, with one in critical condition. A large portion of Austin was shut down with a shelter in place order while police conducted a manhunt for the shooters.
During the rampage, the shooters stole cars and firearms and damaged multiple vehicles in addition to firing at civilians. They targeted and fired on three fire trucks and two Austin Fire Department stations, as well as four homes. Police have yet to identify a motive for these heinous crimes.
Fajardo Mondragon is being held without bond and had an ICE detainer placed on him. If Austin’s left-wing DA and prosecutors give him a sweetheart deal, he will face deportation the moment he is released from prison.
Austin’s District Attorney Jose Garza has received significant funding from George Soros and is known for his lenient approach to criminal prosecutions. Meanwhile, the city remains in conflict with state leadership over sanctuary policies. Despite Texas law banning sanctuary cities, Austin officials have continued efforts to limit cooperation with ICE and shield illegal aliens where possible.
Now, the results of being pro-illegal are clearly manifest. When you let violent, psychopathic killers into your city and handicap the rule of law, they act exactly like Fajardo Mondragon. This is not some petty crime committed for money or revenge; this attack targeted firefighters—selfless heroes who risk their lives daily to save those in need.
Texas cannot become the punching bag for the world’s most depraved criminals. We must defeat the left’s open borders agenda, or else they will let in more and more criminals like Fajardo Mondragon.
