Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico held a press conference in Sanderson, Texas, where he railed against the border wall while presenting himself as a “commonsense border security” candidate.
Talarico visited locations across West and South Texas during his Frontera Tour, holding a press conference focused on the border issue. He slammed Trump’s border wall as a “Monument to Corruption,” arguing that it will not secure the border and presenting his own border security plan.
According to James Talarico, all we need to secure our border is to hire more border patrol agents, hire more immigration judges, and utilize surveillance technology instead of physical barriers. This is supposedly a “commonsense” position, but it actually reveals a deceptive push to bring back the Biden-era open borders invasion.
The most obvious tell that Talarico does not support border security is the fact that he neglected to break from the Left and its war on ICE. There was no criticism of the antifa terrorists who are shooting at ICE officers and facilities, of the rogue judges who let criminal illegal aliens run rampant across the country, or the leftist extremists who scream that “no one is illegal on stolen land.” Instead, Talarico has consistently invited support from these groups and been their champion in the Texas House of Representatives.
Even as he tries to cultivate an image as a moderate, the problem is that Talarico’s supposed commonsense plan would not actually solve any border security or immigration issues. Hiring more CBP officers and immigration judges would not get rid of the 20 million-plus illegal aliens already inside the United States—only mass deportations can do that.
Although surveillance technology and additional personnel on the border are important, border barrier is a critical element of any border security plan, as it adds time to crossings, creates choke points for groups of illegal aliens attempting to cross, and creates critical infrastructure to allow Border Patrol to intercept illegal border crossings as they happen.
Texans must see Talarico’s agenda for what it is: deception. He uses words like “commonsense” to hide the true radical extremism of his position. Texans for Strong Borders has endorsed Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate based on his record of consistently contesting the Biden administration’s Open Border policies as the Texas Attorney General.
