Establishment politicians in Washington follow a predictable pattern: Republicans and Democrats fight bitterly in public, but unite in “bipartisan support” whenever they can sell out the American people—especially on the southern border.
That pattern is clear with H.R. 4393, the so-called DIGNIDAD (Dignity) Act of 2025. Roughly 20 Republicans and 20 Democrats, including sponsor Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) and co-sponsors like Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-TX), are pushing this illegals-first citizenship scheme disguised as border security.

Salazar and her allies claim the bill grants no amnesty. Yet a video online shows her admitting the truth: “At some point in the future, another legislator will write another law to give them paths to citizenship. Right now, what we need to do is… allow them to stay, to continue working, because they are needed.”
The bill creates a “Dignity Program” offering up to seven years of renewable legal status, work permits, and deportation protection to millions of illegal aliens here before January 1, 2021. It also includes a direct pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and DACA recipients. While it adds some enforcement measures like mandatory E-Verify, the core is providing legal-status first—the same the failed approach that invites more illegal crossings.
Before his assassination, Charlie Kirk rightly condemned the bill as amnesty in disguise, warning that entry-date limits are meaningless without reliable verification—any illegal alien can simply claim eligibility.
With Charlie gone, establishment forces demanding cheap foreign labor are pressing hard to pass it. They want to flood the labor market, depress wages, overwhelm schools and hospitals, and turn states like Texas into permanent sanctuaries.
Texans for Strong Borders stands in total opposition. What open-borders advocates call “dignity” is actually the stripping away of dignity, safety, and opportunity from law-abiding Americans—especially Texas families bearing the costs of cartel violence, fentanyl deaths, crime, and strained resources.
We reject this “compromise” that legalizes millions and signals weakness. America needs full border control, real E-Verify enforcement, mass deportations, and a permanent end to catch-and-release.
Congress must kill this bill. Texans demand enforcement—not excuses. Anything less is betrayal.
