Senator Mayes Middleton requested that Governor Abbott prioritize banning in-state tuition for illegal aliens during the special session.
Shortly after the end of the regular session, the Trump administration intervened with a lawsuit against Texas for not banning this practice when they had the chance. The case was quickly settled with the verdict declaring the practice unconstitutional.
Now that a special session has been called, it is crucial that the state legislature reflect the decision of the suit and change the law in Texas to prevent universities from exploiting any loopholes they may discover.
Senator Middleton thanked the governor for calling the lawmakers back to Austin and expressed hope that this time, they will finish the job and pass conservative priorities.
Texans for Strong Borders is committed to advocating for policies that ensure taxpayer dollars are spent on taxpayers and not on illegal aliens, most of whom do not pay taxes at all.
We are thankful to Senator Middleton for his attention to the voice of the grassroots and his commitment to putting Texans first and securing our border.
Keep up the great work in ending this illegal alien crisis!!!
