The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon revealed the results of an extensive drug crackdown on Tuesday. They charged over 100 defendants with fentanyl trafficking, noting the striking statistic that about 80% of the indicted criminals were illegal aliens, mostly from Mexico or Honduras.
The investigation began in 2023 and produced seizures of more than 100 kilograms of fentanyl, 40 firearms, and $1.3 million in cash. Officials said the fentanyl quantity was sufficient to kill roughly 50 million people.
These prosecutions are a stark reminder of the true cost of open borders. Not every drug trafficker is an illegal alien, but 80% is such an overwhelming majority that the connection is impossible to dismiss.
The pattern is not limited to Portland. Authorities caught cartel-affiliated illegals running drug bases in North Carolina forests. Border Patrol officers caught a million dollars’ worth of cocaine hidden in just one truck at the Southern border.
Left-wing activists deceived the nation when they claimed migrants storming the border were innocent families, doctors, and engineers.
Many were drug traffickers and cartel operatives looking for easy prey and wealthy markets.
In Portland and other Democrat strongholds, they found exactly that. Now that the traffickers are here, communities all across America are suffering from the fentanyl epidemic and exploding levels of crime. Since 2021, over a quarter of a million Americans have died from fentanyl. Without illegal alien traffickers to distribute all those drugs, the number would be significantly lower.
The data supports one inescapable conclusion: weak immigration policy directly kills citizens. And the responsibility for such death does not just fall on the illegal aliens themselves. It falls upon the weak and corrupt officials who enabled the invasion and the ideological leftists who would see every border on earth abolished.
