December Illegal Border Crossings On Pace To Skyrocket Passed November

As we approach the end of the year, alarming reports reveal that December is set to surpass November in the number of illegal border crossings. Despite the winter season typically leading to a slowdown in crossings, the numbers are only escalating, signaling a need for decisive action from our political leaders.

The surge in illegal aliens taking advantage of the existing system is a direct consequence of the Biden administration’s lax approach to border security. With the knowledge that they are likely to be released after turning themselves in to Border Patrol, these illegal aliens are exploiting the vulnerabilities in our system, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of American citizens.

In the first 17 days of November, a staggering 130,000 illegal crossings were reported. Shockingly, the situation worsened in December, with an alarming 167,000 crossings within the same timeframe. This surge not only poses a threat to national security but also places an undue burden on our border patrol agents, who reportedly can’t keep up with the influx of crossings.

Compounding the crisis, reports indicate that more border patrol agents are being diverted from their stations to assist in the transportation and processing of illegal aliens. This diversion of resources undermines the very purpose of having a border patrol force and leaves our borders vulnerable to further incursions.

Reports from people on site have said there were at least 14,000 illegal alien crossings on Monday, December 18th and on Tuesday morning it wasn’t slowing down one bit. This established a new single-day record for number of encounters at the southwest border. Troublingly, these encounters do not include the “gotaways” who were not apprehended as well, numbers which ballon when border patrol agents are pulled from the line to help assist with the processing of the “caught”. The end of year rush is happening, and Eagle Pass is ground zero.

As we look ahead to the 2025 Texas legislative session, it is crucial that comprehensive border security measures are enacted to address the root causes of this crisis. Only through a combination of deterrence, a fortified border wall, and decisive removal actions can Texas and the nation as a whole hope to recover from the dire consequences of the ongoing invasion at the Texas Border. It’s time to put the safety and security of Americans first.
